Since its founding in 1945, Heritage Community of Kalamazoo has provided seniors with exemplary personalized residential care on our campus. We take our commitment to area seniors one step further with our Memory Care Learning Center, which offers information, education and support to individuals and families living with dementia. Our primary goal is to equip seniors, their families and professionals with the tools and sense of community necessary to navigate their own journeys.
The Center is not just for Heritage Community residents and staff. It’s open to care providers from across the region — both professional and family — as well as others in the larger community who want to learn more about memory care. As enduring proof of the Heritage commitment to seniors and their families, programming at The Memory Care Learning Center is free to all participants.
That’s why the Memory Care Learning Center was created: To serve as a community resource for caregivers and loved ones navigating the confusing, frustrating and often heartbreaking progression of dementia while providing care with love and dignity. Please join us at an upcoming event!
In addition to hosting and facilitating support groups, classes and community-building events at the Memory Care Learning Center, we offer a list of helpful resources for individuals caring for someone at home or in a senior care community. As an extension of Heritage Community of Kalamazoo, the Memory Care Learning Center draws upon Heritage’s long-standing and important role in the caring for seniors since 1945 as well as the strong memory care provisions found within the two specialized communities of Meilland Square and Hawthorn Landing.
Outside of Heritage Community, the Memory Care Learning Center has numerous partnerships with area resources including medical/research-based organizations and advocacy organizations dedicated to finding a cure for and treating Alzheimer’s and related disease.
