Volunteer

The volunteer program at Heritage Community of Kalamazoo seeks to utilize the unique talents, skills, and knowledge of every volunteer. To engage volunteers in activities that not only stimulate their minds, but also the mind of the residents they are helping. Our mission is to celebrate the life of our residents by having volunteers that empower them to live life to the fullest. HCK seeks to promote, develop, and encourage meaningful learning experiences for students, staff, and residents through our volunteer program.

Staff memeber working with Heritage Community residentsA 'volunteer' is anyone who performs a task at the direction of and on behalf of the organization without compensation or expectation of compensation beyond reimbursement of expenses. A 'volunteer' must be officially accepted and enrolled by the Director of Senior Wellness and Volunteer Management prior to performance of the task.

HCK Life Enrichment program also accepts as special case corporate volunteer programs, community service groups, religious organizations, and other volunteer referral programs. In the area of education, special case volunteers may include nursing students and interns from other health careers and/or allied health programs. In each of these cases, however, a special agreement must be in effect with the organization, school, or program from where the volunteers originate and must identify responsibility for orientation and supervision care of the volunteers.

If you are interested in volunteering at HCK please email our Director of Senior Wellness and Volunteer Management.
